Henderson County ridge soils like Ashe run to 40.2% slopes, so a hillside yard usually needs the water handled first, then a wall or terrace to hold the cut, then the patio, steps, or planting on top. For a steep Zirconia lot we typically look at boulder or block retaining walls to hold the grade, drainage and grading to move runoff off the slope, natural stone steps to tie the levels together, and erosion control where a bank has already started to move.
